TfC – Daily Buffet – 11/17/16
TFC - Daily Buffet

Good afternoon friends!

The TfC Daily Buffet serves up some of the best articles, videos, and podcasts of the day so you don’t have to spend hours scouring through the garbage to get to the good stuff. Have something you’d like to see on a future menu? Send us a link and we’ll consider it!

Today’s Menu

1. ‘“To Wonder & Adore”: Recovering Communion as Holy Mystery‘ – I took a class on worship last year that really made me start thinking about the means of grace. I don’t know about you, but for too long, I have dumbed communion and baptism down into nothing more than necessary duties – like getting a driver’s license or registering for the draft. But no longer. I believe there’s a mystery in these things that is unexplainable yet undeniably beautiful. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the value of communion in the comments.

2. ‘I’m a Conservative Married to a Liberal‘ – Though this is a great piece for married couples who may live in the same house but live on opposite sides of the political spectrum, many of the thoughts here are just as applicable to conservative and liberal Christians who share a church. We have something in common that’s greater than our political affiliations!

3. ‘The Influence of the Book of Common Prayer‘ – SeedBed’s short article about the Book of Common Prayer is worth reading whether you’ve ever used it or not. I may do an article or video soon where I talk about how we can use the Book of Common Prayer in our devotions. Share your experience with the Book of Common Prayer in the comments below.

4. ‘7 Books That Changed My Life‘ – I love reading lists. I’ve also come to love Russell Moore. So a reading list from Russell Moore? What’s not to love, right?

5. ‘No Protestants on the Bench‘ – Mark Movsesian explains some of the cultural reasons for the lack of Protestants on the Supreme Court. Then, he explains how that could impact important decisions on religious liberty.

6. ‘My Special Gift to You: A Free, Downloadable Advent Devotional‘ – The Billy Graham Center for Evangelism has put together an Advent devotional that includes contributions from nearly two dozen Christian leaders. You can get it for free by signing up for their newsletter.

7. I’ve mentioned the Evangelical Arminian website, but I’d like to take a moment to point you toward their Twitter feed. They’re definitely worth following.

Bon Appétit!

Hopefully this will keep you filled up until tomorrow. And remember, if you’ve seen an article, video, or podcast – or if you’ve been reading a really good book – that you think we ought to add to the menu, comment below and we’ll see about putting it on.

And remember, if you subscribe, you can get a free copy of ‘A Disciple’s Manifesto’, my vision for Christian discipleship.
