‘In the Beginning’ Song Lyrics

pen-laying-on-staff-paper

As I thought over today’s daily devotion, my mind was drawn back into this song that I wrote several years ago on creation:

In the beginning,
The Earth was void and without form,
And darkness covered everything that was.
But God’s Spirit hovered,
Like a hen upon her eggs,
He was preparing His creation,
In the beginning.

He made the light,
So the stars could shine,
And he made the seas and the sky,
So the fish could swim and the birds could fly,
He made the land, the trees and plants,
So we could learn to live and love.
He was preparing His creation,
In the beginning.

In the beginning,
My life was void and without form,
And darkness covered everything I was.
But God’s Spirit hovered,
Like a hen upon her eggs,
He was preparing His creation,
In the beginning.

He made the light,
So that I could shine,
And he made the seas and the sky,
So that I could sail and I could fly,
He made the land, the trees and plants,
So I could take His Word, and set men free,
He was preparing me,
In the beginning.
